Team Profile: West Bromwich Albion FC

In the hopes of getting to know the Premier League better and maybe make your choice of a team a little easier, (that is if you're not gonna root for Tottenham, which you totally should), I will give a brief team profile and history as well as a prediction as to where the team will place this season.

Today we have West Bromwich Albion FC!

Nickname: The Baggies
Stadium: The Hawthorns
Rivals: Aston Villa

History:

West Brom was founded in 1878 and became a part of the British Football Association in 1883. They reached the finals of the FA Cup three years in a row, losing to Blackburn and Aston Villa, then winning the Cup in 1888 beating Preston North End 2-1.

To this day Albion hold the record for the widest margin of victory in the top league of English football beating Darwen 12-0 in 1892.

West Brom won the top league of English football in 1919-20 and have won the FA Cup most recently in 1968.

Last Season:

West Brom finished 13th in the Premier League last season and 6th in the FA Cup. Their top scorer was Saido Berahino with 14 league goals. The Baggies had sluggish start to the season and a catastrophic November, but were able to stave off the relegation drama by snatching 11 of 18 points in their last 6 games.

Prediction:

I think West Brom will finish 11th. They have added new talent at the striker position in Rickie Lambert from Liverpool who is a proven goal scorer and will be trying to repair his reputation after a lack-luster season for the Reds at his new home. The combination of Lambert and Berahino could be threatening to even top level teams, but the season is won and lost in the middle of the table, look for West Bromwich to improve, but only just.
